In a move to streamline operations and ensure efficiency, CI Games is implementing its last wave of job cuts as part of the restructuring initiated in January. Around 30 individuals from its production teams are slated for redundancy in this targeted action, marking the culmination of the company's efforts to realign its priorities.
In a statement provided to GamesIndustry.biz, CI Games emphasized the necessity of these measures to optimize their strategic direction moving forward. While the restructuring impacts various departments, Hexworks, the team behind the acclaimed title Lords of the Fallen, remains intact and dedicated to their upcoming project, 'Project 3,' an exciting new action RPG venture.
Despite the workforce adjustments, CI Games is committed to supporting its personnel through the transition period. Underdog Studio, the company's second internal development team, has been granted an extended timeline to finalize the vertical slice for 'Project Survive' before advancing to full-scale production.
The spokesperson for CI Games reassured that all affected employees have been promptly notified and will receive comprehensive support during the transition process in the ensuing weeks.
This latest round of layoffs follows CI Games' earlier announcement in January when it disclosed plans to reduce its workforce by 10%. Nonetheless, the company's recent financial report for 2023 showcased record revenues exceeding $60 million, largely attributed to the success of Lords of the Fallen.
